"I will give you a sheikh!"

Sheikh Hanif was a seasoned Muslim leader. He had studied the Qur’an for many years and was responsible for organizing Muslim communities and launching new mosques. One night he had an overwhelming dream in which a graceful man addressed him by name and introduced himself as Isa al Masih (Jesus the Messiah). He simply said he wanted Hanif to serve him and listen carefully. In the dream he showed Hanif a tree on a hill nearby and the face of a man. “Go now and wait under the tree by the road. Look for this man, for he is my servant. You will recognize him when you see him, and he will show you the true answers to all your questions about God."

Hanif quickly got on his way to the hill and scanned the face of every passing person. Hours went by and nothing happened. He began to despair.

However, at that moment, several miles away, a man named Wafi was on the road with two disciples he was mentoring, visiting new Christ followers in their homes. Now Wafi also had had a strange dream in which God said to him: ‘I will give you a sheikh!‘ He understood the dream to mean that God might have a plan to use him to disciple a sheikh who would perhaps become a bridge for taking the gospel to other Muslim leaders.

It was already getting dark on the hill when Hanif, still waiting, discerned three figures. As the distance closed he recognized the one in the middle - Wafi - as the face he saw in his dream. Excited he came to him and shouted: ‘My friend! It is Isa al Masih that requires you to answer my questions tonight!” That night Hanif became a Jesus follower. God called him to another region of his country where he planted seven churches.

Every day, hundreds of stories like Hanif’s are happening throughout the Muslim world. A number of these stories have been collected by author Jerry Trousdale in the inspiring book ‘Miraculous Movements’.
